This is a Lightning Ridge semi black opal has a low to medium dome and polished in a freeform shape.  The benefit to keeping the shape more natural is that when the color is this good you get to see more of it.  At almost three ct this opal has allot of face that shows very good reds and greens and with a larger pattern and good color play it will make a very nice pendent bracelet or a large ring.
